Saipan delegation passes 2 spending measures

THE Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation on Tuesday unanimously approved two local spending measures.

One is the $190,000 E-Gaming license revenue that House Bill 21-19 would appropriate to various programs and activities. The other is the $195,468 in capital improvement project bonds accrued interest income that H.L.B. 21-1 would appropriate for the installation of lights in Kagman.

All 21 delegation members voted in favor of the two local bills.

Authored by Speaker Blas Jonathan Attao, H.L.B 21-19 proposes to appropriate $75,000 for the Fourth of July-Liberation Day celebration; $30,000, Commonwealth Women’s Association; $10,000, 21st Oceania Customs Organization Conference; $15,000, Northern Islands Mayor’s Office; $10,000, 38th Flame Tree Arts Festival; and $50,000, Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation operations.

As for H.L.B. 21-1, which was introduced by Vice Speaker Lorenzo I. Deleon Guerrero, the funding source was identified by the Commonwealth Development Authority as available for appropriation.

The local bill would benefit the residents in the Kagman Road area from LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort all the way to the intersection of Lalanghita Road and Pine Drive.
