Governor meets with investors in Japan

GOVERNOR Ralph DLG Torres said he met with several investors in Japan, including Hyatt representatives who, he added, want to extend their land lease agreement with the CNMI.

“We will be working closely with Hyatt,” Torres said in an interview on Thursday.

He said his administration fully supports an extension for Hyatt.

Hyatt’s land lease agreement with the Department of Public Land expires in December 2021.

Torres said he also met with other business persons in Japan who are looking into possible investment opportunities in the CNMI.

In addition, Torres said he secured a commitment from T’Way Air Co. Ltd. to expand its flight service to Saipan

“I am looking forward to it,” he added.

Asked about Skymark Airlines, Torres said, “We have an agreement with them: they will be coming in the later part of July or first week of August. I hope those target dates would stick, but if there are any changes, I will make sure to work with them to secure a continued daily services from Japan.”
