Under the program, CHCC offers professional development for new nurses who are given the opportunity to work at the hospital up to one year under the supervision of registered nurses. The program also provides NCLEX study tools.

CHCC Chief Executive Officer Esther Muna said the program was launched in 2017 and aims to improve the recruitment and retention of local nurses.

The first participant was Northern Marianas College graduate Maria Louise Gabriela Marinas Artero. She passed the NCLEX in 2018. CHCC offered her a two-year contract.

As for Jose Nico Marquez, CHCC paid for his NCLEX registration and examination fees as well as the review course through the National Council of State Board of Nursing. He was also given a two-week administrative leave to prepare for the exam.

Marquez said CHCC nurses who supervised and mentored him also helped him pass the NCLEX.

CHCC stated that the program is open not just to NMC nursing graduates, but also to current certified nursing assistants who want to be registered nurses at CHCC.

Once they pass the NCLEX, program participants will work for CHCC for two years.
