CAO, DYS to hold youth summer camp

THE Carolinian Affairs Office and the Division of Youth Affairs are offering a summer camp program that aims to empower the youth.

CAO Executive Assistant John Tagabuel said registration is now ongoing for the Summer Youth Empowerment Camp.

Children, 6 to 12 years old, who want to learn traditional skills may register. Registration forms are available at the Tanapag Youth Center and the San Isidro Youth Learning Center.

In their previous summer camps, Tagabuel said they offered cultural classes to children who learned traditional dances, weaving, bead-making, and singing in the Carolinian language.

This year, there will be presentations on nutrition and mental health courtesy of the Community Guidance Center’s Systems of Care program, CAO program coordinator Vivian Nogis said.

Nogis said they want to teach the children cultural skills an activities that promote mental and physical wellness.

There will be two venues for the summer camp:

  • • Tanapag Youth Center, July 8 to July 18, 2019, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.; and,
  • • San Isidro Youth Learning Center, July 22 to Aug. 1, 2019, from 7:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
