Event coordinator Sonia Siwa said seven-year-old Kaneko is vacationing on island with her mother.

“She [Kaneko] had fun with the Saipan Awaodori kids,” Siwa said, adding that the volunteers collected 300 lbs of trash and trimmed overgrown vegetation in an area that included the Paseo de Marianas and Coral Tree Avenue, portions of Micro Beach Road, Beach Road and connecting alleys.

Siwa said 24 volunteers with the Saipan Awaodori Team joined the cleanup which started at 9 a.m.

PDM Promoters Inc. chief executive officer and director Misako Kamata is very thankful for the continuous support of the volunteers, Siwa added.

“PDM Promoters wants to emphasize the importance of keeping the island environment clean to attract more visitors and to allow residents to enjoy the healthy atmosphere of their island,” she said.
