Taiwan business executives look into potential investments on Rota

A DELEGATION of business executives from Taiwan met with Rota Mayor Efraim Atalig on Thursday to discuss “potential investments,” his press secretary Ivan Mereb told Variety.

“It was only a meet-and-greet,” Mereb said, but the delegation led by Ken Lee are interested in possible business opportunities on Rota.

“They want to do business here but there’s no detail yet,” Mereb said, adding that the Taiwanese delegation’s brief meeting with the mayor was very productive.

Also attending the meeting was Rota Casino Gaming Commission Chair Viola H. Atalig, Mereb said.

The mayor presented a gift and certification to the visitors to express the municipal government’s appreciation for a potential business partner on island, Mereb added.

Prior to the meeting with Atalig, Mereb said the Taiwan businessmen also met with acting Gov. Arnold I. Palacios, Senate President Victor B. Hocog and Sen. Teresita A. Santos to discuss Rota’s economic viability.
