Hasugulgam and Teregeyo to plead guilty to burglarizing 7 establishments

STEVEN Hasugulgam, 22, and Duane Irwin Teregeyo, 18, will plead guilty to burglarizing seven business establishments on Saipan.

Hasugulgam and Teregeyo will enter into a global plea agreement, Assistant Attorney General Heather Barcinas said at a hearing on Tuesday afternoon.

The defendants, represented by court-appointed attorneys Oliver Manglona and Kimberly King-Hinds, told the court that they would resolve the cases via a non-trial disposition.

Superior Court Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo scheduled a change of plea hearing for Oct. 1, 2019 at 1:30 p.m.

Hasugulgam and Teregeyo were arrested for the burglary and theft at True Value Hardware on Beach Road and I Love Saipan Pop Up Store on Middle Road in December 2018.

In April 2019, the Office of the Attorney General filed additional charges against the two defendants in connection with the break-ins at Bank of Saipan, Surf Club, the Shell gas station in Susupe, Blue Sky Market and Pena House Boutique.

Hasugulgam was charged with additional six counts of burglary, six counts of theft, four counts of conspiracy, and three counts of criminal mischief.

Teregeyo was charged with additional three counts of burglary, three counts of theft, three counts of conspiracy and one count of criminal mischief.

Hasugulgam told police that they burglarized True Value Hardware and I Love Saipan Pop-up Store.

He claimed burglarizing both stores were Teregeyo’s idea.
