Suspect identified in recent burglary and theft incident

(DPS) — The Department of Public Safety-Criminal Investigation Bureau investigated a burglary and theft incident that occurred at the Yaong Corporation office in Gualo Rai. The incident was reported on April 24, 2019.

James Somorang

Preliminary investigation revealed that a suspect gained entry through an unsecured door that led to a storage room where he was able to take a yellow drywall screw gun.

After reviewing the company’s surveillance recording, a male individual was seen entering the compound at 6 a.m. through the company’s main gate and was later seen exiting the same gate holding the screw gun.

Further investigation conducted by detectives later identified the male individual as James Somorang, a resident of Gualo Rai. Somorang was interviewed and confessed to being responsible for taking the screw gun, and later trading the tool for beer at LC Market in Gualo Rai.

Somorang has not been arrested as the case is still being reviewed by the Attorney General’s Office.
