Recent Tinian graduate Anthony Canlas takes flight to tech school

ON Friday, Aug. 16, 2019, a Class of 2019 graduate from Tinian Jr./Sr. High School, Anthony Canlas, graduated at the Lackland Air Force Base in Texas with the 322nd Training Squadron Flight 590.

Anthony Canlas

His MOS is a helicopter mechanic. After eight weeks of basic training, he will be on his way to tech school at Fort Eustis, Virginia.

Canlas graduated from TJSHS as part of Top 10, ranking at number 6. He was an active cadet in the JROTC Stallion Battalion and was the former S2 or security officer of the JROTC program. He participated in Armed Drill team activities, JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl, and Raiders.

A word of advice from Canlas: “Everyone has the opportunity to excel in BMT. The Air Force gives you multiple ways to stand out as a trainee and a future Airman. It’s your duty to tackle those opportunities presented to you. However, don’t stress out on success in BMT or just success in general. My advice is to strive for excellence and success will find its way to you.”

First, congratulations for pushing through, Airman Canlas! You have made it to a life milestone, so pat yourself on the back. The Stallion Battalion will be cheering you on and the rest of the people of CNMI are right behind you. Keep striving! HOOAH!
