3 arrested for selling ‘ice’

THE Drug Enforcement Task Force has arrested three men for allegedly selling methamphetamine or “ice” on Saipan.

Joseph Torres White, 28, Paul Anthony Lizama 38, and Marwin Camacho, 38, appeared in the custody of the Department of Correction at Thursday’s bail hearing before Superior Court Associate Judge Camacho who imposed a $100,000 cash bail on each defendant.

Assistant Attorney General Chester Hinds represented the government. The court said it will appoint a defense attorney for each defendant.

White, Lizama and Camacho were separately charged with trafficking and possession of a controlled substance.

The defendants were ordered to return to court for a preliminary hearing on Aug. 27 and 29, and for their arraignment on Sept. 9.

The three were remanded to the custody of the Department of Corrections after the hearing.

According to the Drug Enforcement Task Force the DETF, after a court-approved surveillance and investigation, the three were found to be involved in selling methamphetamine on three separate instances and occasions.

DETF also noted that White is a recent graduate of the CNMI Drug Court program.
