Zoning Office to hire 2 enforcement officers

THE Saipan Zoning office will hire two law-enforcement officers once the government’s austerity measures are lifted, zoning administrator Therese Ogumoro said.

She said they have 13 personnel including five field operation officers, but with the upcoming campaign against blighted property and the implementation of the ATV-UTV-motorcycle regulation, the zoning office will need more personnel.

She said the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation has already approved the allocation of funding for the additional enforcement personnel.

“I am very thankful to the legislative delegation,” she added.

Ogumoro said they will submit the final ATV-UTV-motorcycle regulation to the CNMI Register for publication.

The implementation of the new regulation will start by October, she said.

Ogumoro said the reduction of the government’s working hours to 72 hours from 80 hours has affected the zoning office’s field operation.

“We have to catch up and carry on,” she added.

She said they have to limit outfield operations and make adjustments to their field inspections.
