Saipan Unity Lions Club inducts officers, welcomes new members

THE Saipan United Lions Club inducted 10 new members and the officers for 2019-2020 in the Hibiscus Hall of Fiesta Resort & Spa on Sunday.

Second Vice District Gov. Saturnino “Atoy” Banting inducted the new members: Elsa Bangilan, Joy S. Cause, John T. Bandales, Eva Q. Cuevas, Emaralyn J. Manlangue, Jeffrey Riman, Benjie Cruz, Carol Tamparong, Elmera D. Lacap, and Wilma E. Amog.

Outgoing club president Lucy Buensalido then turned over the gavel to the incoming club president, Elizabeth Escober.

Escober and other officers were inducted by Honorary Philippine Consul to the CNMI Glicerio “Eli” Arago.

The other officers are:

First vice president Aida Gagaring, second vice president Alicia C. Barbo, secretary Ruth M. Torrecampo, assistant treasurer Mary Ann David, auditor Noemi I. Catigan, lion tamer Wrene Mae Alegre, tail twister Adrialen Dela Cruz, safety officer Argie Buensalido, public relations officer Marilyn Pames, membership director Jose P. Digno, Lions Clubs International Foundation coordinator Lucia D. Buensalido, service chairperson Tes A. Marquez and marketing communications chair Elena Soll.

Also inducted were the board members: Sandra Bartolome, Saturnino Banting, Rommel Crisostomo, Orlie Ebuen, Wilfredo Barbo, Sancho Escober, Noemi Catigan and Argie Buensalido.

In her remarks, newly installed club president Elizabeth Escober said she was motivated to join the club because of the dedication and professionalism of its members in pursuing their goal, which is to serve the community, especially those who are in need of help.

“The members’ motivation and enthusiasm will guide me as president of our club,” she said.

“Let us continue the work what our predecessors started,” she said, adding that the club will continue holding its signature events which include the fundraising golf tournament and beach cleanups.

Escober said she also wants the club to adopt a park on Saipan because “this is in line with one of our pillars of Lionism, which is to attend to the health and well-being of the children.”
