Tinian High School’s Sherri Borja gears up for Advanced Individual Training

SHERRIZADE Borja, a Class of 2019 graduate, completed basic training on September 27, 2019 at Fort Sill, Oklaoma. She is a 68W which is a combat medic. Recently, she began Advanced Individual Training or AIT and is currently in Charlie Company, 232d Medical Battalion, Class 5-20. She is now located at Fort Sam Houston in San Antonio, Texas.

Borja gave a summary of her time in basic training:

“In basic training, I learned a few basic combative movements, both with weapons and hand-to-hand fighting, how to shoot my weapon, and throwing hand grenades. We did ruck marches all the time, map reading, land navigation, and drill and ceremonies.”

When Borja was a student at Tinian Jr./Sr. High School, she was immensely invested in the JROTC program. She was not only the headquarters company commander but was the commander for Unarmed Drill Team (SY 18-19) that went to California to compete in the Golden Bear Competition and took home second place. Also, Borja was a National Honor Society member.

Here’s the advice that Borja would like to tell the cadets:

“My advice is to have discipline, motivation, patience, and perseverance instilled in you. There will be a lot of times where you just want to give up. Remember why you joined and don’t give up. Also, water is so beautiful. Always hydrate.”

Way to go, Sherri! Congratulations on your excellent success and good luck for more progress. The Stallion Battalion is aware of what you are capable of achieving. Make us proud! Hooah!
