GCA K-5 students shine in speech competitions

(GCA) — All of the eight Grace Christian Academy Kinder 5 students who competed in the  Primary Grades Forensic Conference excelled and bagged awards in different events.

PGFC competitions encourage public and private school students from kindergarten 5 to fifth grade to participate in and become proficient in the forensic performing arts like reading, public speaking, and interpretations. Over 200 students competed in the first monthly competition held at Francisco Mendiola Sablan Middle School last Saturday, October 12, 2019.

Although it was their first time to compete, all of the GCA K5 students emerged as winners in one or two events. Mykah Jax Salas won 1st place in Impromptu Speaking with his winning speech telling that chocolate is sweet and yummy, but do not eat it too much every day and remember to brush your teeth to avoid cavities. Other K5 students won in all their two events: Fiona Yu won 2nd place in Reader’s Forum and 3rd place in Humorous Interpretation and Gwen Aleaxandra Retardo won 2nd place in Dramatic Interpretation and 5th place in Impromptu Speaking. Other K5 students who won one of the top 5 awards are Troy Anthony Aldan and Divannie Torres, 4th Place in Chamorro Event and the group of Jing Qi Yang, Allen Gil, Mykah Jax Salas, and Gina Kwon placed 5th Place in Choral Speaking.

The GCA community would like to congratulate the GCA competitors for doing their best in extra-curricular activities. Also, thank you to all the parents, volunteer judges, and coaches for their support and all the help they have given in this competition. Below is the complete list of winners.
