Triple J joins Toys for Tots program

TRIPLE J is participating in the Toys for Tots program by providing spaces for donation boxes at its various commercial establishments.

The Saipan Young Professionals, which initiated the project in the CNMI, said there are now donation boxes at Great Harvest, Surf Club, Truckload Store, Bubba Gump, Capricciosa, and Tony Roma’s.

“We are always happy to provide locations for drop boxes for the Toys for Tots program,” said Mike Sablan, Triple J vice president for finance and administration. “We are always looking forward to help where we can.”

Toys for Tots is a U.S. Marine Corps Reserve program that provides toys for underprivileged children.

Saipan Young Professionals co-chair Shayne Villanueva said the SYP has been a part of the program for three years now.

With the help of their partners, Villanueva said they donate over 2,000 toys every year.

The recipients of the toys are the Salvation Army, Karidat, Guma Esperansa, and Empty Vessel Ministry Foundation, which then distribute the toys to the children.

“Our mission this year is to raise as many new unwrapped toys for children and young adults,” Villanueva said.

As of this month, he said, over 25 business establishments are participating in the program, which is now in its 10th year in the CNMI.

To collect more toys, Villanueva said his group plans to involve schools this year.
