Guam governor, fire chiefs honor Norita

FORMER Department of Fire and Emergency Medical Services Commissioner Clyde K. Norita was recognized last week by Guam Gov. Lou Leon Guerrero and the Western Pacific Islands Association of Fire Chiefs for his tenure as CNMI fire chief and vice president of the WPIAFC board of directors.

Norita, who became DFEMS commissioner and vice president of the group in 2016, was awarded a plaque of recognition during the 8th Annual WPIAFC Training Forum at the Lotte Hotel on Oct. 17, Guam Fire Chief Stanley Torres Jr. told Variety on Friday.

In an interview, Norita said he was honored by the recognition from his colleagues in WPIAFC.

“The CNMI’s membership in the association has benefited the Commonwealth through advanced training, policies, networking with members, and national and international resources,” Norita said.

He said he is profoundly grateful to Chief Stanley Torres Jr., Chief Dan Stone, Deputy Chief Joey San Nicolas, Assistant Chiefs Alex Castro, Joey Manibusan, Ed Chaco, and Lt. Dean Aguon who “have helped shape CNMI DFEMS these past four years.”
