Managaha boat trips remain suspended

TYPHOON Bualoi is no longer a threat to Saipan, but Managaha boat rides will remain suspended until the U.S. Coast Guard lifts Port Heavy Weather Condition ZULU.

Ben Sablan, president of the Saipan Marine Sports and Tourism Association, said condition ZULU will be lifted if the Coast Guard determines that the channel buoys are all in line and in place.

Some commercial boat operators who declined to be identified said they are anticipating that condition ZULU will be lifted by afternoon today, Wednesday.

Condition ZULU means that sustained gale force winds (winds greater than 35 knots) are anticipated within 12 hours. All activities are suspended, and the ports will be closed until the storm has passed and damage assessment surveys are completed. During condition ZULU no terminal, facility, vessel, or marina operations are permitted.
