DFEMS spokesman Derek Gersonde told Variety that the TETRIS team was activated Sunday morning to help community members still living in tents dismantle their temporary shelters in the villages.

DFEMS TETRIS consists of four teams with five firefighters each, Gersonde said, adding that the operation was island wide, but they focused on southern Saipan which, together with Tinian, bore the brunt of Super Typhoon Yutu last year.

“We are helping those that are still currently living in the tents, not those who are using them as storage,” Gersonde said, adding that they dismantled 46 tents on Sunday, and put up the same number of tents on Tuesday.
