Second batch of tax rebates out this week

THE Department of Finance will release this week the second batch of tax rebates, Finance Secretary David DLG Atalig said on Monday.

He said the checks were supposed to be released on Monday, but the department could not do so due to Typhoon Bualoi.

The checks for about $2 million in rebates, which include child tax, educational tax, and $1.4 million tax refunds, will be out this week, he added.

The first batch of rebates that was released in July amounted to $8.5 million, Atalig said. Finance announced the distribution of over 3,600 tax checks beginning July 2, 2019.

“Now for the second batch, I just confirmed last week that the child tax, educational tax, and tax refunds are going to be about $2 million, and they will be released this week,” Atalig said.

The Torres-Palacios administration is committed to releasing tax refunds, rebates, and child tax as soon as they become available, he added.

“I want our hardworking taxpayers to know that this administration is taking every measure possible to get these funds into your hands, starting with $7.1 million in child tax rebates,” Gov. Ralph DLG Torres said in a statement.

“Protecting our families is a top priority, and these funds will help families with children increase their ability to meet their most immediate needs.”

He added that he and Lt. Gov. Arnold I. Palacios appreciate Department of Finance personnel for their hard work and due diligence in processing the refunds and issuing the checks to families.

The governor thanked Atalig and his team at Revenue and Taxation, Treasury, and Electronic Data Processing “for working tirelessly these last few weeks for our taxpayers.”
