“If it’s acceptable, then obviously the CUC board will inform CPA,” he added.

On Thursday, the CUC board was supposed to discuss the proposed MOU, but there was no quorum. Only chairperson Miranda Manglona and board member Jovita Paulino were present. The board currently has five members.

Manglona said she called for a recess until 6 p.m. on Thursday so that the other board members could join the meeting and discuss whether to finalize the MOU with CPA.

On Thursday morning, CPA officials led by Executive Director Chris Tenorio and legal counsel Robert T. Torres showed up for the CUC board meeting that had to be postponed due to a lack of quorum.

Asked about the major provisions in the MOU, Camacho said it will give the public utility permanent easement so it can access its 67 water wells located on CPA property and use an existing CUC waterline, which transports water from the wells to the CUC system.

The MOU will also resolve disputed water charges and penalties, he added.
