Lions Club International to host orientation on Saturday

THE Lions Clubs International District 204, Region 2 will conduct an orientation on its programs and objectives, Region 2 chairperson Annamae Adaza said.

The event will be held from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the cafeteria of Francisco Mendiola Sablan Middle School in San Antonio on Nov. 9, Saturday.

The orientation is free, and refreshments will be served to the participants.

“If you have the heart and passion in serving the community, then join the orientation,” Adaza said.

She encourages community members to attend the orientation so they can have a better understanding of the Lions Club, which is one the world’s biggest organizations serving humanitarian needs.

“The orientation is open to all, even long-time members who want a refresher since there are always new things to learn,” Adaza added.

She said there are a lot of things to learn about the Lions Club.

“We also want to entice more individuals to join the club,” she said, adding that members are the foundation of the international organization.

“Most clubs struggle with membership retention, but once they understand what’s in it for them then we are sure that they will stay with the club for as long as they can,” she said.

More members mean more services that can address more needs of the community, Adaza said.

She said when Lions travel anywhere in the world, they can also meet with their counterparts since the Lions have clubs in over 200 countries and geographic areas.
