Alex Sablan wins Club 200 grand prize

TAN Holdings executive Alex A. Sablan won the grand prize in the American Red Cross-NMI chapter’s Club 200 fundraising event at Fiesta Resort & Spa on Saturday.

On behalf of Sablan, Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance Executive Director Roberta Guerrero received the key to a 2019 Toyota Rav4 LE from Atkins Kroll Saipan.

Guerrero is Sablan’s mother-in-law. She said Sablan could not make it to the event, as he and his family were moving back to their newly repaired house.

Sablan’s house was among those destroyed by Typhoon Yutu in October 2018.

Guerrero thanked the American Red Cross for always supporting the community. “Alex and my entire family support the American Red Cross as well,” she added.

She noted that her family was involved in getting the Red Cross started in the CNMI back in Dec. 1986 after Typhoon Kim passed 18 miles north of Saipan, devastating the island.

At its Club 200 event on Saturday, the American Red Cross raffled off 20 packaged prizes.

Queanna Sablan of Northern Marianas College won the first prize of $10,000 Ace Hardware shopping spree from the Bank of Guam, and an MCM handbag from DFS T-Galleria.

Second prize went to Daniel Shead of Commonwealth Healthcare Corporation. He received $10,000 shopping spree from the Joeten Group of Companies, and Tiffany Jewelry from DFS T-Galleria.

Ben Kaneshi won the third prize: two roundtrip economy class tickets to any U.S. destination from United Airlines; two-night stay in an executive suite of Fiesta Resort & Spa; theme lunch for two at Fiesta Resort & Spa; dinner buffet for two at Fiesta Resort & Spa; and Sunday brunch for two at Fiesta Resort & Spa.

Fourth prize went to Rosita Aldan who received an economy class ticket to any destination worldwide excluding U.S. from Asiana Airlines; two-night stay in an executive suite of Fiesta Resort & Spa with breakfast for four at World Café from the Tan Siu Lin Foundation; a Coach backpack from DFS T-Galleria; a dinner show for two at Fiesta Resort & Spa; Sunday brunch for two at Fiesta Resort & Spa; theme lunch for two at Fiesta Resort & Spa; and plate of the day each month for a year and tea every day from The Shack.

Fifth prize went to Jose Pangelinan who received an iPhone XS Max plus one year wireless subscription from IT&E; theme lunch for two at Fiesta Resort & Spa from AON Insurance; five $20 gift certificates from I Love Saipan; $50 Tropical Arrangement gift certificates from Blossom’s Floral Depot; and three $50 gift certificates from Star Jewelry & Handicrafts.

American Red Cross-NMI chapter executive director John Hirsh thanked all the sponsors and donors of this year’s Club 200.

He also thanked the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and the Cargill Foundation, based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Both donated $1 million to the American Red Cross.

“Our work is based on financial support and volunteer work that make our mission possible,” Hirsh said.

After Typhoon Yutu slammed into Saipan and Tinian, Hirsh said the American Red Cross helped over 5,000 families or 15,000 individuals by handing out relief items.
