Jefferson A. Saures promoted to Marine gunnery sergeant

JEFFERSON A. Saures has been promoted from staff sergeant to gunnery sergeant of the United States Marine Corps on Nov. 10, 2019.

Saures, 32, was born and raised on Saipan and graduated from Kagman High School in 2005. The following year, he enlisted in the Marines.

Saures is with the 1st Intelligence Battalion and it was his officer in charge, Capt. Daniel Lim, who submitted his name for promotion.

Saures’ son Jeff Nathan was given an opportunity to pin the promotional rank on his father.

Gunnery Sgt. Saures’ proud parents are Alfred and Helyn Saures.

Alfred Saures told Variety that his son did two tours: one in Iraq and one in Afghanistan.

He added that Gunnery Sgt. Saures is the second of three siblings.

Gunnery Sgt. Saures is married to Raquel Kaipat Ogumoro Saures. They have three children: two boys and a girl.

Currently, Gunnery Sgt. Saures is stationed in Oceanside, California with his family.
