Public warned about ‘census employees’

THE CNMI Census 2020 on Monday warned the public about certain people knocking on doors and claiming to be “census employees.”

In his memorandum, 2020 CNMI Census Office Manager Claudio Norita said his office has been receiving calls from the public about people who have visited their homes and have represented themselves as “census employees.”

Norita said the CNMI 2020 Census does not have any employees doing field work now.

“We intend to have our employees in the field by late January 2020,” he added.

Norita would also like to remind members of the public that during the 2020 Census, duly hired employees will never ask for an individual’s Social Security number, bank account or credit card numbers, PIN codes, passwords or access information for credit cards, banks or other financial accounts, and money or donations.

The 2020 Census employees will also never contact anyone on behalf of any political party, Norita said.

To report concerns, you may call his office at 682-2020.
