PSS legal counsel resigns

PUBLIC School System legal counsel Ryan Meyerhoff has resigned.

Ryan Meyerhoff

In an email to Variety, he said he submitted his resignation to the Board of Education and to then-Education Commissioner Glenn Muna on Sept. 27.

Meyerhoff is currently on annual leave and will return to work on Nov. 25. His resignation will take effect on Dec. 6.

“I’m heading back to California, my home state, on December 7. My time at PSS has been enjoyable and rewarding, but four years is enough time for me to be so far removed from family and friends in California,” Meyerhoff stated.

As PSS legal counsel since April 2018, he served the Board of Education and the education commissioner.

Before his stint at PSS, he worked for the Law Revision Commission of the CNMI judiciary from April 2016 to 2018.

When he returns to the mainland U.S., Meyerhoff said he will be a deputy city attorney in Stockton, CA.

He is the fourth PSS official who has resigned since September.

Then-finance director Chris Ching resigned effective Sept. 12, 2019. Then-Education Commissioner Glenn Muna announced his resignation on the same day; it took effect on Nov. 12, 2019. PSS facilities development and management director Rachel Fusco said her resignation will take effect on Jan. 10, 2020.
