They are Svetlana Atalig, Jeremiah Lacapa Benavente, Francine Borja Camacho, Kimberly Concepcion, Patricia Jane C. Deleon Guerrero, Annamarie Schoen Guerrero, William D. Harwood, Megan Nevitt Loken, Aaron Mar, Melissa D. Mendez, Paul Miura, Joseph John Shirai Muna, Raymond Mafnas Muna, Valerie Yvette Mendiola Nada, Asapmar Sven Bennett Ogumoro, Niyanina P. Reyes-Ross, Bernadet Padua Torres and Courtney Zietzke.

Their commencement exercise was held at the multi-purpose center in Susupe with U.S. Congressman Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan as the keynote speaker.

He praised the collaboration between NMC and Framingham State University.

“You accept the reality of the relationship between these two institutions of learning,” he told the graduates. “Yet think about how improbable it really is that a Massachusetts university, halfway around the world, would be partnered up with NMC.”

Sablan said he was invited to be the guest speaker because of his commitment to education.

“I am so committed to making sure that everyone has the opportunity to earn a degree — or two. Maybe it is because I do not have the advanced degree you earn today that I also have a different perspective on what you have achieved. And maybe I see things that are so familiar to you that you take them for granted,” he said.

“If you can remember that far back, I was the first professor to open up your cohort,” Diane Epstein said.

“You are excellent members of the teaching profession, and that was obvious in your studies for your master’s degree,” Barry Ruthfield said.

Margie Daniels said cohort 9 is an “extraordinary group of graduate students.

“This wonderful quality which you all share was demonstrated each day in every class in both courses that it was my privilege to teach,” Dr. Michele Andolina said.

The program started at 3 p.m. with Fr. Celso Magbanua Jr. offering the invocation and Fred Camacho as the master of ceremony.
