James Ada is new president of NMI Republican Party

(Press Release) — CNMI Republican Party media and public relations committee chairman Ivan A. Blanco yesterday announced that the GOP board of directors met on Wednesday and unanimously appointed James Aldan Ada as president to fill the position vacated by Jack P. Villagomez.

Villagomez resigned late last year after successfully presiding over the restructuring of the Republican Party and its merger with the recently dissolved Covenant Party.

Ada expressed his appreciation for the board’s trust in him and added that the GOP office is now operational and ready for business.

He also clarified the GOP’s position on the selection of a candidate for delegate.

He said contrary to recent media reports, the GOP has not selected a candidate nor has it ceased entertaining candidates for delegate.

The GOP has publicly announced that the positions of delegate, mayor, and representative were open to interested candidates and that letters of intent to file for candidacy would be accepted until 4 p.m. yesterday.

The GOP has already unanimously endorsed Gov. Eloy S. Inos and Senate President Ralph DLG. Torres as the official Republican Party candidates for governor and lt. governor.

The GOP, also unanimously endorsed Oscar M. Babauta and Arnold I. Palacios as its candidates for the Senate seats representing Saipan and the Northern Islands. Candidates from Tinian and Rota will be selected by their respective GOP precinct clubs.

Ada thanked the community for its continued support and cordially invites all members, family, friends, and supporters to join the GOP kick-off rally scheduled for Sunday, March 23, at the Susupe basketball court.
