PAGAN will be visited by tourists this month, Discover Pagan 2014 organizer Jerome Aldan said.
The ground tour agent, Pacific Development Inc., is coordinating with Inchcape Shipping the arrival of Silver Sea Explorer on Sept. 28, and the Marianas Visitors Authority will provide the welcome banner, Aldan added.
Aldan said before he took a leave of absence after he filed his candidacy for Northern Islands mayor, he made sure that Pagan is ready for the tourists.
”Staffers at the Northern Islands Mayor’s Office continue to be involved in ensuring the safety of the visitors and a pleasant experience on Pagan,” he told Variety.
Earlier, Gov. Eloy S. Inos expressed his concern about the safety of the tourists.
Aldan said in April the mayor’s office secured a public restroom near the Utt located between South and North Bays in the main village of the volcanic island, Shomoshon.
He said potable water is also available and a 16’ x 20’ two-story hut and benches have been constructed for the visitors.
“[The Northern Islands mayor’s office] will make available five staff members for the visit and the ground tour agent will provide three tour guides too,” Aldan added.
On Pagan, the tourists are expected to visit the Outer Lake, the Zero Bomber and the Chalan Talu Scenic Rest Area.
Aldan said Silver Explorer has standard operating procedures and an emergency plan.
The vessel, he added, has all the necessary health and human safety apparatus to deal with the needs of its passengers.
