IT is important for parents of Bangladeshi children on Saipan to continue nurturing their native language, Bangladesh Cultural Group president Rakibul Islam said.
During the commemoration of important Bangladeshi cultural and historical events, Islam said they always emphasize the need to preserve and nourish their culture, traditions and language.
Islam said it is their duty to promote awareness about their language and culture among their children and other members of the new generation.
On Saturday, he said the Bangladeshi Community on Saipan will join other Bangladeshis all over the world in the observance of the International Mother Language.
The celebration here will be held at the American Memorial Park Visitor Center theater from 7 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and will feature music, poem recital and inspirational messages.
“We are expecting more than 100 members from the Bangladeshi community to join the celebration,” Islam said, as he invited other community members, regardless of their ethnicity, to join them.
The event, he added, will highlight the history of their language.
