(MVA) — The Marianas Visitors Authority joined representatives from other countries and regions at the Guangdong International Travel Fair on Feb. 25-27, 2016, in Guangzhou, China.

Over 120,000 attended this year’s fair, “one of the most influential B2B fairs focusing on outbound travel, inbound travel, and MICE travel,” according the event’s official website.

MVA joined the Brand USA Pavilion with industry partners Dynasty Holidays and Best Sunshine International, where the team distributed information and brochures to promote the Northern Mariana Islands as a world-class destination.

“Guangdong is one of the China’s largest cities and one of the NMI’s largest source cities,” said MVA Deputy Director Judy Torres. “The Guangdong International Travel Fair was an important opportunity to forge and reinforce industry partnerships and share more of what our islands have to offer to potential visitors.”

In addition to paying courtesy visits at Tuniu.com, Qulv.com, GZL and Dynasty Holidays, MVA had media interviews with Guangzhou Daily newspaper, Holiday Media and FM106.1 radio.   Several other mass media and travel trade media outlets extolled the appeal of the beautiful beaches and ocean on Saipan and their desire to visit Tinian and Rota in the near future.

The appeal of the NMI as a destination where families can enjoy leisure activities in a clean environment was noted, and the potential for “sister schools,” student exchange, and cultural programs was also raised.

This year’s fair attracted 956 exhibitors from 45 countries and regions. MVA also met with top travel agents at an appreciation dinner hosted by Brand USA.
