Jimenez, 44, will be ordained by the Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Martin Kreebs, on Aug. 14, 2016 at Mount Carmel Cathedral.

Born in Dumaguete City, in the central Philippines, Father Ryan studied philosophy at the Ateneo de Manila and earned a master's degree in theology from St. Patrick's Seminary and University in California. He first arrived on Saipan in 1997 and was ordained a priest for the CK diocese by Bishop Tomas A. Camacho in June 2003. The first bishop of the diocese, Father Tomas served from 1984 until he retired in 2010 at the age of 73. He is now the bishop emeritus of the diocese.

Father Ryan was appointed apostolic administrator of the Diocese of Chalan Kanoa on Dec. 28, 2010 by Pope Benedict XVI, succeeding Father Manuel Corcuera, 65, who passed away on Dec. 19, 2010.

In a statement on Saturday, Father Ryan said: "I will do my best to serve the people of God. Please continue to pray for our Pope, our Apostolic Nuncio, our clergy, religious men and women, and people of God in the diocese. Please help me serve the Lord in ways everlasting, and pray for me, your servant in Christ."
