Manamko’ get free makeover, health checkup from Marianas Health Services

MARIANAS Health Services held a “very special” program on Tuesday for 70 senior citizens so they could be “gorgeous, happy and healthy” while celebrating Older Americans Month.

The company brought professional beauticians and makeup artists from T. Galleria to give the manamko’ “makeovers.”

Afterward, the manamko’ were ushered to a booth for a picture-taking session with professional photographer Hervin Jacinto.

“It is our intention to capture their gorgeous and beautiful look after the makeovers so they will have something to remember,” Marianas Health Services community outreach manager Rosa Castro said, adding they will frame the photos and give them to the manamko’.

Marianas Health Services also provided free health screening services to senior citizens, including blood pressure and blood sugar testing, she added.

Congregant Delia Castro said she felt “so good” and was satisfied with the makeover.

She said she wears makeup, but “it’s different when professional beauticians do it for you.”

Office on Aging Director Walter Manglona thanked the management and volunteers of Marianas Health Services for the community outreach to the senior citizens.

He also thanked Carolinian Affairs Office Director John Tagabuel for allowing them to use the Carolinian Utt in Garapan as the venue for the event.

Senior Citizens Advisory Council president Rita Reyes said they appreciate the generosity of Marianas Health Services “for keeping the manamko’ healthy and in good condition.”

The staff and volunteers of Marianas Health Services who provided health and makeover services were Lou Frances M. Pua, Abbi Kaa’inoa, Reyce Guevarra, Sunny Loma and Susan Satur.

The participating beauticians and makeup artists were Didi Woodruff, Divana Dela Cruz, Gynicca Cepeda and Noelani McMahon.
