39 marijuana plants seized on Guam; landscapers discover Pago Bay plantation

HAGÅTÑA (The Guam Daily Post) — Landscaping workers discovered a marijuana plantation at a Pago Bay beach site on Wednesday, resulting in the seizure of 39 marijuana plants.

Garden Inspirations owner Maria San Nicolas said her company was hired by a local real estate agent to clear 2 acres of land off Inalado Road in Pago Bay for the landowner, who resides off-island.

The company had been clearing the property since last week and yesterday San Nicolas’ crew discovered dozens of marijuana plants deep in the jungle area.

“It’s the first time I’ve experienced this,” San Nicolas said, as her company has been operating for more than eight years. “We discovered the trees and we’re quite surprised.”

San Nicolas contacted the real estate agent and the police.

“It appeared the area had been developed for quite a while,” she said.

Officers with the Agat Precinct responded to the site and discovered 32 trees that range in size from tiny seedlings to as tall as 7 feet.

The plants were confiscated and an investigation is under way to determine who was responsible for planting the marijuana on the property.
