Governor appoints two more CUC board members

GOVERNOR Ralph Torres on Thursday announced the appointment of two individuals to the board of directors of the Commonwealth Utilities Corp.

Jovita Paulino and Miranda V. Manglona will represent Tinian and Rota and were recommended by Tinian Mayor Joey San Nicolas and Rota Mayor Efraim Atalig.

Their nominations require Senate confirmation.

If confirmed, Manglona will serve the remaining term of former CUC board member Albert Taitano that will expire on March 19, 2019 while Paulino will serve the remaining term of former CUC board member Eric San Nicolas that will expire on Aug. 4, 2018.

Paulino is an employee of the Tinian mayor’s office while Manglona used to work for the Department of Labor on Rota. No other details about their qualifications were available as of Thursday.

The governor earlier nominated Weston Thomas A. Deleon Guerrero, a structural engineer, and attorney Matthew Holley to the CUC board.

Deleon Guerrero’s nomination has been confirmed by the Senate. As for Holley, a public hearing on his appointment has been set by the Senate for Monday at 2 p.m.
