Docomo Pacific, United Airlines to hold free concerts starting Aug. 12

DOCOMO Pacific, in cooperation with United Airlines, will hold a series of free concerts called “One Marianas: Movie and Music Night” on Saipan, Tinian and Rota starting Aug. 12.

Docomo Pacificpublic relations coordinator Kenneth Quintanilla said the event “is our way of saying thank you to the people of the Marianas for their support as we landed and completed our Atisa submarine fiber-optic-cable system, which now allows us to offer choice throughout the Marianas.”

He said the concerts also represent Docomo Pacific’s commitment to connect the people of the Marianas.

“We’re excited to work with United Airlines to host this event and celebrate the launch of the widest 4G LTE network in the Marianas, the first triple-digit online speeds up to 100 Mbps, high-definition channels, and TiVo — the award-winning television entertainment system. TiVo essentially gives you total control of the TV programming you love,” Quintanilla said.

Docomo Pacific and United Airlines will kick off the celebration on Aug. 12 at the Francisco Palacios Baseball Field on Saipan. The next events will be held on Tinian Aug. 19 at the AMB Theater, and Aug. 26 at the Rota Roadhouse. The concerts start at 4 p.m. and end at 10 p.m.

The performers include “The Dolls” from Guam. The all-girl group is known for promoting female empowerment through their music. They will perform upbeat original songs, including their new Chamorro song, “Paluma” or bird which is about reconnecting with someone.

Also to be featured on Saipan are local artists Goddhy and Demalyn Pagarao.

Besides the concert, Docomo Pacific will also screen an outdoor movie, the live-action “Beauty and the Beast.”

“We will also have free food and drinks and giveaways,” Quintanilla said.
