Jorlard Borja arrested in sexual assault case

POLICE have arrested Jorlard Osilek Borja, 36, who was accused of inappropriately touching a 15-year-old boy.

Borja was charged with sexual assault in the second degree, assault and battery, and disturbing the peace.

On Tuesday, Superior Court Judge Joseph Camacho imposed a $50,000 cash bail on Borja who appeared in the custody of the Department of Corrections and was represented by Assistant Public Defender Soshana Epsterin. Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Wilberscheid appeared for the government.

According to police, prior to the incident, the victim caught a ride with Borja after a family picnic.

On their way home, police said Borja reached out to the victim who was on the front passenger seat and tried to touch the boy inappropriately. The victim kept pushing Borja’s hand away and told him to stop several times, police said.

Police said when Borja stopped next to a Laundromat, he continued to try touch the victim and attempted to kiss him.

The victim told Borja to stop. But Borja persisted, prompting the victim to put him in a headlock.

When he was released from the headlock, Borja punched the victim’s left shoulder, head and chest, police said.

Police said the incident was witnessed by a 14-year-old boy who was at the back seat of the vehicle.

Once they got home, the victim immediately called his father and told him what happened. The father reported the incident to the police.

Borja will return to court for a preliminary hearing on Sept. 21 at 1:30 p.m. and for his arraignment on Oct. 2 at 9 a.m.
