MVA may hold Konqer Rota next year

AFTER the successful “Konqer Saipan: King of the Hill,” the Marianas Visitors Authority said it may bring the obstacle course challenge to Rota next year.

“If logistics permit,” MVA Managing Director Chris Concepcion said, adding that the agency plans to hold another Konqer on Saipan in April next year.

While MVA targeted 250 participants this year, Concepcion said the event drew 497 from 26 business teams and 28 completion teams.

Konqer Saipan was held on Sept. 9 at Gov. Eloy S. Inos Peace Park in Puerto Rico.

“It was a very successful event,” Concepcion told the MVA board during its meeting Tuesday.

He said the event also attracted 55 overseas participants.

“The feedback from the community is very positive,” he added.

In his report to the board, Concepcion said of the total participants, 25 percent were children and 24 percent were adults.

The ethnicities of the overseas participants varied — 45 were from Guam and the U.S. military, three Taiwanese, four South Koreans and two Japanese.
