MHS to upgrade Dolphin Theatre

MARIANAS High School plans to renovate its Dolphin Theatre once funding becomes available, according to theatre arts teacher Harold Easton.

He said a number of upgrades are in the works, including additional lighting, sound and stage equipment.

Act One was about three “chimps” who tried to write and then analyze Shakespeare’s “Hamlet.”

“Our theatre here at MHS is getting good use — everything from TV commercials, to in-house dramatic productions, Glee Club rehearsals and performances and Friends of the Arts productions.

"It is also used as a National Speech and Debate Association and Thespian Society competition venue and a rehearsal hall.”

On Sept. 22, 23 and 24, the Friends of the Arts or the FOA and the MHS Theatre Club presented “One Act Comedy Night” at the Dolphin Theatre.

FOA program promoter Frank Gibson thanked the people who watched “One Act Comedy Night.”

“We appreciate their attendance and everyone who has seen the play appreciated it,” Gibson said. He added that the FOA is looking forward to staging more productions in the future.

Easton, director of “One Act Comedy Night,” said the production is a collection of unusual one-act plays. “They came from very different authors writing from very different frames of reference,” he added.
