Manamko’ invite community to ‘Halloween Bash’

THE senior citizens at the Office on Aging will hold a two-night Halloween event filled with entertainment, fun and games, office director Walter Manglona said on Thursday.

The Manamko’ Band led by veteran singer Jess Pangelinan will also perform.

The event will be held at the Saipan Senior Center on Oct. 27 and 28 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The entrance fee is $3 for those who are 17 years old and below, and $5 for adults.

Manglona said the manamko’ will showcase their musical talents. There will also be a costume and dance contest open to everyone, including visitors.

“We will award prizes to the scariest costume, the most original, and funniest. So we encourage everybody to join,” he said.

“We will have cash prizes and gift certificates for the participants,” Manglona said as he thanked Kimpachi Restaurant for allowing the manamko’ to use its movable stage for the event.

The senior citizens through their advisory council led by Teresita Sorroza will sell cakes, cookies and other delicacies during the event.

The Office on Aging will distribute brochures to educate the community about the programs and services provided at the center, Manglona said.

Moreover, they will deliver a presentation on senior citizen abuse and neglect prevention, he added.

Proceeds from the event will help fund an off-island trip planned by the manamko’, Sorroza said.
