New Senior Citizen Advisory Council officers assume office

THE new officers of the Senior Citizen Advisory Council assumed their posts on Oct. 2 under the leadership of their president, Teresita Sorroza.

Most of the officers are previous members of the council, Office on Aging Director Walter Manglona said. “They are familiar with their duties and responsibilities.”

Aside from Sorroza, the other officers are Maria Salinas, vice president; Lolita Dacillo, secretary; and Minerva Maghanoy, treasurer. The council members are Rita Reyes, Eden Liwag, Ann Nakatsukasa, Jess Pangelinan and Rafaela Perry.

“This is a good set of officers who will work together for the good of the manamko’,” Manglona said.

The Office on Aging, he added, fully supports the council and its programs.

Sorroza said the council is determined to implement projects that will help improve the health and quality of life of the manamko’.

“We had a very productive first meeting,” she said.

The first project is the fundraising Halloween Bash this month, she said.

They are planning to hold similar events in the future. “We want to ensure that we have enough funds for our off-island trip to Rota,” Sorroza said.
