MCS Lady Knights 2 nips debut win over Agape, 35-11

THE Mount Carmel School Lady Knights are off to a strong start as they plowed Agape Christian School, 35-11 during last Thursday’s game of the 2017 Coalition of Private School Sports Association High School Basketball League held at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym.

The MCS Lady Knights 2 were clearly in control as their tough defense and ball movement were unmatched.

Francesca Bucalig led the first quarter run finishing strong with four points while Katelyn Rabang and Gia Hemley played as back up with two points apiece to gain control.

Agape struggled throughout the first half as they were barely had the chance to put up a shot due to MCS 2’s pressure defensive effort.

Lucy Chengning Gu managed to deny the silence putting up the only bucket in the first quarter but failed to get out of the drought splitting a free throw opportunity for one point made by Ying Zhang at the second canto to remain behind 17-3.

ACS started to get better looks during the third quarter using smarter passes to feed Gu, Wendy Tang and Yangzhou Su with two points each but still had to play catch up as MCS 2 matched their production to hold the comfortable distance.

Despite ACS’ efforts, MCS never toned down leaving them with only two points at the final quarter while Riley Buenaventura, Princess Alcatara and Kalea Borja joined in the late-game rally to put the game out of reach 35-11.
