‘Boom’ holds Balajadia in draw

AFTER 10 minutes of non-stop action, conclusion comes to a draw as purple belt Roman “Boom” Alvarez displayed remarkable and aggressive moves against Figo Bonsai’s Isaac Balajadia on last week’s Submit V in Guam at the Dusit Thani Resort Convention Center.

Rules for the event was a “Submission only or Draw” match, in a 160-lbs weight category which was a first ever particular event with its very own set of rule for Alvarez to compete in.

“I trained here on Guam at Steel Athletics under JJ Ambrose, Mike Ullou, Jacob Guererro, and Justin Benevente. For this tournament I strictly trained Jiu-Jitsu and focused a lot on my cardio to fight at my best for the full 10 minutes,” said Alvarez.

Although the fight could not be finished, it was both exiting and thrilling for this Purple Belt Ninja, training tirelessly and giving it a 100 percent every session to fight an opponent worthy of his caliber; an opponent who excels greatly in pro-wrestling.

Alvarez is currently in training now as he prepares the mind, body and spirit of an island warrior to defend his “145 title” on April, going up against an opponent possibly from Korea.

“My ultimate goal is to fight alongside our people and represent our island in the UFC, and I would like to thank you all so much for all the love and support, this God-given talent that I’ve worked so hard to keep will not be wasted and our people will strive in every was, Love you all!!” said Alvarez in an interview.
