Fiesta stops MV, 36-33

FIESTA Resort lived to fight another day after escaping the defeat from Marianas Variety, 36-33 during last Saturday’s game of the 2017 Tan Holdings Christmas Basketball Tournament held at the Tan Siu Lin Sports Complex.

Mikki Kautz, Quina Flores and Quincy Chinen shared their contributions from beyond the arc with a triple each but it was still not enough to stop the force of Irish Pagarao and Krizel Tuazon as they lit up the scoreboard to take the lead 22-19.

MV’s Jehn Villagomez joined the game in the second half hoping to give the team a run but failed to stop Fiesta Resort’s offensive output.

Guine Borja stepped up putting up four points while Pagarao continued to deliver to hold the steady pace leading to the victory 36-33.

Following up the girls division is the GSM Lady Ol’Aces’ win against CTSI 47-24.

The Lady Ol’Aces came in charging with the whole team in sync as each player had a feel for the ball.

Anna Lei Santos started off the run scoring the first two buckets while Desrei Camacho and Eleina Santos joined in with two points apiece to quickly gain control.

CTSI’s Nana Watanabe and Mary Kay Alferos were the only two players able to keep the team alive. But they just could not overcome the Lady Ol’ Aces’ nearly impenetrable falling to a 20-point deficit forcing them to wave the white flag early in the game 24-47.

Sun Palace shared a similar double digit victory over the 670 Sonics XVII in the boys division.

Although the Sonics managed to stay close behind at the first half 22-27, they suddenly lost touch at the second.

Sun Palace nearly shut down the Sonics’ run as they were reduced to just 16 team points while Sunjoon Tenorio and Cristian Morales fired at will to claim the win 66-38.

The M&M Salas Ol’Aces joined the celebration with another blowout victory over 670 Sonics XVI 94-37.
