Bruv, Fake Madrid, Betde secure finals seat in Futsal

BRUV, Fake Madrid and Betde locked in seats in the finals of the 2018 Youth Futsal Tournament after eliminating their adversaries during last Tuesday’s playoff games held at the Tan Siu Lin Sports Complex.

Bruv was the only team that really had to fight for their spot as they rallied past ABCDE FC 5-2 in the U18 Coed division.

Bruv and ABCDE FC went at it with several exchanges from start to finish.

Bruv drew first blood with JM Rojas slicing through goalie Merrick Toves’ hands to take the lead. They continue to play aggressively sending a flurry of shots. But Toves held his ground with a handful of saves to keep ABCDE FC in the game.

Right before the end of the first half ABCDE FC broke through Bruv’s line of defense as Dai Podziewski went for the hail mary connect the shot to even the score 1-1.

ABCDE FC carried their momentum over to the second half as Krizel was the first to break the ice snatching the lead 2-1. But as soon as the lowered their guard, Bruv struck back.

Guine Borja started off the run equalizing the scoreboard while Gillian Borja added two straight goals to regain the lead 4-2.

ABCDE FC tried their best to pull a comeback but failed to get any clear shots with the help of Bruv goalie Eunsyu Hahn’s well-timed blocks to ensure control.

ABCDE FC’s aggressiveness turned on them as they left little to no protection on their end of the court leaving Mareko Tekopua open for the dagger shot securing their path to the finals 5-2.

In the U15 division Fake Madrid silenced Marianas United, 16-0.

It was just goal after goal for Fake Madrid with Paulynn Joyce and Oliver Fajardo leading the first half with a combined five points while Jon Villagomez and Stella McCallion contributed one each to lead 7-0.

Marianas United failed to cook up any comebacks as Fake Madrid’s never-ending pressure forced them to play defense for the remainder of the game but still could not keep up with their pace.

Fake Madrid’s Kaden Church found his stroke connecting four straight makes supported by Rintaro Miyawaki and Katrina Costales putting the game out of reach 16-0.

Betde joined the celebration as they gunned down Kanoa Ali’i 11-1.

Betde’s teamwork was just unmatched as each player made had their time in the spotlight. Mark Costales led the assault with two goals while Kaithlyn Chavez, Wataru Kadokura, Anthony Austria and Julie Capayas chipped in one goal each for the safe 7-0 distance at the first half.

Kanoa Ali’i slowed down the pace at the second half breaking the silence by Tyler Omelau but could not escape defeat as four more goals were made by Betde to triumph with ease 11-1.
