Aqua Smith holds 2nd Spearfishing rescue training

(Press Release) — Aqua Smith on Sunday held its 2nd Annual Spearfishing Rescue Training for young fishermen and the Lau Lau beach.

According Morito Asai, they have started the free rescue training program for young divers after the tragic incident involving young fisherman, Andrew Kim last year.

The participants are mostly teenager fisherman. Some of those who joined last year attended the training again this year.

The participants learned 10 safety rules and CPR in the morning at Aqua Smith and open water rescue training at the Lau Lau Beach in the afternoon.

The 10 Safety Rules are:

1. Dive with float and dive frog.

2. Keep “One up, One down” buddy system

3. Weight yourself properly

4. Drop your weight belt if you are not 100 percent sure to get to the surface.

5. Drop your speargun for same reason.

6. Spit your snorkel out at the surface before you dive.

7. Reject the idea that you know your body and can instinctively stay within your limits.

8. Always bring bottle of water and drink it.

9. Always protect the airway. Perform CPR if necessary.

10. Always keep a first aid kit on the boat / vehicle.
