CK Bears smell pennant win in SBL

THE CK Bears is one win away from winning the pennant title after blowing out the Blue Jays in last Tuesday’s game of the Saipan Baseball League at the Francisco Tanko Palacios Baseball Field.

With only one loss in the season, when the Aces shut them out in March, the Bears never let go of the lead two months out to the end of the first round.

The second round began last week and Bears kept harvesting wins, the 12-1 rout of the Blue Jays being the latest.

Jose Lizama had four strike outs and allowed two hits and one run with one walk.

The Bears dominated the game starting with short stop AJ Lizama’s run-scoring single in the opening inning.

First baseman Ethan Babauta and right fielder Ben Flores contributed RBIs in the third, while catcher Virgil Sechramidal drove in a run with a single in the fourth.

The Bears circled the bases in the fifth with Secharmidal hitting his second RBI, AJ Lizama an RBI double and designated hitter Shakobe Rangamar a two RBI single.

They streaked again in the seventh with relief pitcher Kiku Lizama blasting a two RBI triple, for the 20-1 blowout win against the Jays.

The SBL will have a break after this week to give the CNMI Baseball Team the time to practice for the Micronesian Games in Yap.
