NMI athletes begin tune up games

THE NMI athletics team started their tune up games on Wednesday as they prepare themselves for the Micro Games in Yap this coming weekend.

Athletics coach Elias Rangamar said they will continue the tune games until Saturday when they will leave for Yap.

He said the opening day of tune ups had good turn outs as everybody came to gear themselves up for the events that will be featured in Micro Games.

In the tune up for javelin, Cassie threw the longest reaching 22.48 meters. Jaime Pangelinan came second with a 22.13 and Lian, third with a 22.08.

In the men’s javelin, Tom Kautz threw 39.73 to take the top spot, Preston Basa 37.60 for the second and Neil Skerei, third with a 35.22.

In the 100-meter dash for women, Zari Sapong led the race with a 12.99; Pangelinan, second, with a 13.56 and Jerlyn Castillo, third with a 13.95.

In the men’s 100-meter sprint, Dean was the fastest with a 12.72; Odie second with 13.oo and Marv third with 13.26.

In the women’s long jump, Theyvian They leaped 4.26; Castillo, 4.19 and Leani Acosta, 4.13.

In the men’s long jump, Chris Mizer went 5.86; Douglas Schmidt, 5.83 and Aiferson Atan, 5.22.
