NMI to send 14 young athletes to Guam for 2018 Asia-Pacific Cross Country Championship

THE NMI is sending 14 young athletes to Guam next week for the 2018 Asia Pacific Invitational Cross Country Championship.

The Northern Marianas Athletics had completed the list of the athletes who will represent the CNMI in the annual event that will be held in Guam from October 19 to 20th 2018.

The international athletics event for high school runners is expected to draw participants from 20 schools in Japan, Hong Kong, Philippines and host Guam.

The NMI participants for male event are Agape Christian School’s Xiong Jonathan Lue, Kaiping Peter Wang, Chen Xuan Kobe Yang, Marianas High School’s Ken Song, Saipan International School’s Kuu Nishimura and Je Hyuk Jung, and Tinian High School’s Tyler Santos as alternate.

For female, the NMI participants are SIS’ Tania Tan, Anika Snyder, Stella McCallon, Malika Miyawaki, Marianas High School’s Therize Millare Jerlyn Castillo and Rochelle Valino as alternate.

“As a way continue to promote and improve our athlete’s skills, and to play integral part of improving the health of our youth, we the Northern Marianas Athletics, are proud to inform you that based on the All Schools Cross Country results students from your three different  school have made it to the Top 6 High Schools runners this session,” NMA Secretary General Robin Sapong said in an email.

This, he said, made them eligible to take part in this year Asia Pacific Invitational Cross Country Championship.

NMA, he added, will support the student athletes by taking care of the $65 entry fees per athlete and 50 percent cost for airfare/accommodation. NMA will also assist with ground transportation and team uniforms.
