Double victory for Joeten

JOETEN 1 and Joeten 2 celebrated last Tuesday their first win in the 2018 JP World Corp. Customer Appreciation Invitational Basketball Tournament defeating their respective opponents at the Tan Siu Lin Sports Complex.

Joeten 1 had a rough start but as soon as they got things going, never looked back plowing through CUC, 83-57.

At first CUC seemed to be on the right track as their shots were going in at the opening quarter with Rey Pestillos and John Santos aiding with 10 points combined to grasp the lead 18-14.

But in the second canto CUC suddenly lost touch.

The rest of the team could not connect handing Joeten the chance to snatch control.

Onopwy sizzled as he fired two triples while Ferdie Tobias and Ernest Duenas joined in with three-pointers of their own to extend the deficit 36-28.

CUC picked up the pace at the second half drawing fouls to get some easy points in but it was still not enough to stop Joeten 1’s run.

Patrick Rotap, Sydney Quan and Vince Teregeyo ignited late in the game scoring back to back buckets while CUC continued to struggle settling for defeat early 83-57.

Joeten 2 also joined their brothers after blowing past Hawaiian Rock during the closing game.

Hawaiian Rock was slow to pick up rhythm as they trailed by nearly double digits in just the first quarter. They started to find their shots during the second quarter with David Allan and Marlon Reyes carrying the team back within a five-point reach.

Despite Hawaiian Rock’s efforts, Joeten 2 exploded offensively with Joe Montoyo and Rey Agustin on the attack fueling the team to victory 78-56.
