Over 200 race in All-School Cross Country championship

MORE than 200 private and public school students including those from Tinian and Rota raced in the championship round of the All-Schools Cross Country at the Saipan Vegas Resort Golf Course, formerly Saipan Country Club in Chalan Laulau on Saturday.

Northern Marianas Athletics development officer Elias Rangamar said that for the first time in many years, they got the best turn out from Tinian and Rota participants.

Compared to previous years, Rangamar said the crowd of young runners was much bigger this year.

Public School System’s Athletics Director Nick Gross also noticed the “great” turn out of the final leg this year and the absolutely beautiful weather gave the kids reasons to be more excited.”

“We’re not getting rain so we’re super excited about finishing up with the championship series,” he said.

Having the participants from Rota and Tinian also made this year’s event great with the students from all the public schools and private schools participating.

“And with all the three islands represented, what a fantastic event we have this year,” Gross said.

Winners in different age brackets were awarded after the event but NMA has yet to record the time in the list.

Variety will report the results in tomorrow’s edition.
